How to Layer Plus-Size Clothes for Autumn Without the Bulk

Autumn is the one season where an outfit is really a construction project. Base, middle, outer — each layer has to sit under or over the next one without bunching, pulling or adding bulk where you don't want it. This edit picks eight pieces from Buykud's Best Sellers tops lineup with exactly that in mind: quiet bases, hooded mid layers, and two outers that close over everything below them.

Start with the Base

The solid O-neck blouse. The layer nobody sees, but everything sits on it. The casual pure-colour O-neck blouse comes in five solid colours, with raglan sleeves that don't seam up under a knit.

The dot shirt. For the days the base layer should get noticed. The dot 100% cotton shirt keeps a turn-down collar flat under a jacket and a print that still reads when the outer is open.

The long blouse. The casual cotton long blouse covers more ground — under a hoodie as a base, or on its own while it's still mild out.

Add the Mid Layer

The plaid hooded shirt. A hood means you can skip the scarf most days. The vintage plaid hooded shirt is 100% cotton and lets the pattern do the talking.

The stripe hoodie. The artsy stripe hooded hoodie reads retro rather than gym, which is what keeps a hoodie out of the weekend-only category.

The knitted hooded sweater. 100% wool, per its product page, with a hood for the wind. The casual knitted hooded sweater is the mid layer for the first properly cold week.

Finish with the Outer

The corduroy jacket. Turn-down collar, front pockets, single-breasted — a jacket shape, not a coat commitment. The solid-colour pocket corduroy jacket is 100% cotton corduroy and throws over every stack above.

The padded long coat. For when two layers won't cut it. The pure-colour V-neck padded long coat is long, padded, and cut to close over the knits without swallowing them.

Three Stacks to Copy

Mild morning: dot shirt under the plaid hooded shirt — corduroy jacket in the bag for later.

Windy commute: O-neck blouse + knitted hooded sweater, hood up, corduroy jacket on top.

Proper cold: long blouse + padded long coat. Two layers, nothing bulked.

Before You Order

Every product page carries its own size chart and measurements — several pieces here are cut in combined sizes, so go by the actual numbers rather than your usual size. And a good layer is the one that works in more than one stack, which is the whole point of buying this way.

Which layer are you starting with? Tell us in the comments.
